Your well-being is the most important thing in the world. It dictates how you move through this world, how you feel about yourself, how you interact and relate to others, how much you decide to give, and how often you laugh and cry. Your well-being dictates if you can make it out of bed.

Therapy does make things better. But it takes time, commitment, openness, maybe even some tears, and a therapist who is right for you. I will say it again - therapy does make things better.

I specialize in helping clients get to the root of their feelings. I will ask the tough questions, I will challenge you, listen to you, support you, and guide you. My approach to treatment is based on the individual needs of each person using solid psychological principles, evidenced based treatment strategies, and your own cultural and spiritual beliefs. People often comment on how my compassionate and calming style makes them feel comfortable, understood, heard, and seen.

"I've experienced several different healing methodologies over the years -counseling, self-help, seminars, and I've read a lot - but none of them will work unless you really want to heal."

Lindsay Wagner

Before your first visit, we'll have a phone conversation about what your needs are to make sure it's a good fit. If it is, then we'll move on discuss fees.

Prior to your first visit, you'll have the opportunity to read consent forms and complete a general intake questionnaire. On to the good stuff, your first visit. We'll spend close to two hours talking. This will help us get better acquainted; I'll ask about your family history, medical history, mental health history, and more. Although the more information I have, the better I can help you, if there is information you're not ready to share, that is okay.

We'll also discuss how often your sessions will be. In the beginning it is best to start weekly and then move to bi-weekly sessions. As you continue to make progress, sessions will shift to monthly to prepare you for termination. That's right - therapy isn't forever.

Eventually you will be well equipped to handle stressors and make healthy decisions that will

foster continued growth and success.

During therapy, I follow your lead. However, I will ask questions and offer structure and guidance. Most of the time I'll be pretty quiet, allowing time for you to express yourself or for the silence to speak to you. There may be other times when I'll talk a little more.

Therapy takes place at all times. I may ask you to do things at home so you can practice and implement the tools you're learning. If you ever need to talk in between sessions, brief telephone conversations are available to you.

So, how do you prepare for your visit?

Give yourself permission to just be, be prepared to tell the truth, and remind yourself that you're okay.
